| | | | DIFFRACTIONS est une série de conférences-discussions présentée par PRISME, le laboratoire de médiation numérique du MBAM.
Durant cet événement, quatre intervenantes et intervenants présenteront le phénomène des NFT (jetons non fongibles) et du cryptoart. De leur point de vue d'artiste, de chercheuse ou de galériste NFT, nos panélistes engageront la conversation avec le public afin de démystifier le caractère unique de ces œuvres et les enjeux qu'elles soulèvent.

| | | Nathalie Casemajor est professeure agrégée et chercheuse au Centre Urbanisation Culture Société de l'INRS (Institut national de la recherche scientifique, Montréal). Son travail porte sur le développement culturel, la mobilisation citoyenne et la culture numérique. Nathalie est directrice scientifique de l'Observatoire des médiations culturelles (OMEC). Elle a mené des projets de recherche sur les institutions culturelles et Wikipédia, sur la participation culturelle numérique ainsi que sur la circulation des œuvres d'art sur le Web.

| Investisseur en capital-risque devenu passionné des chaînes de blocs, Yannick a commencé à explorer le monde des cryptomonnaies et sa technologie sous-jacente en 2015, ce qui l'a amené à se consacrer pleinement au développement de son écosystème à ICON Talent Partners, une société-conseil en ICO (Initial Coin Offering). Après s'être aventuré dans le nouveau monde des cryptomonnaies de type « preuve d'enjeu » (Proof-of-Stake) en lançant une entreprise de services de jalonnement, Yannick soutient désormais la croissance de Figment en tant que responsable du développement commercial.

| | Maalavidaa est Alycia Rainaud, une graphiste et artiste numérique canadienne-française basée à Montréal. Son esthétique abstraite hautement saturée trouve son inspiration dans la thérapie jungienne, la thérapie par la couleur et la méditation. Le travail d'Alycia explore la complexité des émotions par le biais de l'introspection créative afin d'accroître l'intelligence émotionnelle et la sensibilité à la santé mentale. Avec ces intentions comme fil conducteur, elle a fondé Heal The Deal, le premier club de soutien émotionnel du métavers.

| | Alexy Préfontaine, alias Aeforia, est un artiste numérique de Montréal, au Canada. Son travail est axé sur les couleurs, l'équilibre et l'émotion. Mêlant paysages surréalistes et portraits numériques, il a réussi à se forger un style distinct au fil des ans et à développer un sens aigu du détail, tout en se concentrant sur l'impact émotionnel. Ces aspects de son style visuel sont incarnés dans ses deux dernières séries de cryptoart, Five Fears et Eras, toutes deux sorties en 2021, dans lesquelles Aeforia dépeint ses peurs et processus internes à travers ses paysages intimes caractéristiques.

| | | | DIFFRACTIONS is a series of talks and discussions presented by PRISM, the MMFA's Digital Mediation Innovation Lab.
In this edition, four speakers will first describe the phenomena of NFTs (non fungible tokens) and crypto art. Imparting their viewpoints as artists, researchers and NFT gallerists, our panellists will engage in a conversation with the members of the public with the goal of understanding the unique nature of such works and the issues they raise.

| | | Nathalie Casemajor is an Assistant Professor and researcher at the Urbanisation Culture Société Research Centre of Montreal's INRS (Institut national de la recherche scientifique). Her work focuses on cultural development, citizen engagement and digital culture. She is the academic director of OMEC (a cultural mediation observatory) and has led various studies on cultural institutions and Wikipedia, digital cultural participation and the circulation of artworks on the Web.

| Venture capitalist turned blockchain aficionado, Yannick Folla is focused on increasing the growth and usability of Web3 protocols at Figment Networks. Yannick began exploring the world of cryptocurrencies and their underlying technology in 2015, which led him to be fully dedicated to the development of the ecosystem via ICON Partners. After venturing into the new area of proof-of-stake cryptoassets by launching a staking-service business, Yannick is now supporting the growth of Figment as a business development manager.

| | Maalavidaa is Alycia Rainaud, a French graphic designer and digital artist based in Montreal. Her highly saturated abstract aesthetic finds its inspiration in Jungian therapy, colour therapy and meditation. Alycia's work explores the complexity of emotions by using creative introspection to increase emotional intelligence and awareness about mental health. As a natural extension of this work, she also founded Heal The Deal, the first emotional support club on the metaverse.

| | Alexy Préfontaine, a.k.a. Aeforia, is a digital artist from Montreal. His work is all about colours, balance and feeling. Blending surreal scenery and digital portraiture, over the years he has managed to craft a distinct style that combines a keen eye for detail with a focus on emotional impact. That style is embodied in Aeforia's two latest crypto art series, Five Fears and Eras — both released in 2021 — in which he depicts his innermost fears and processes through his signature intimate landscapes.
